Nashville Psychotherapy Institute, The Margaret Cuninggim Womenís Center at Vanderbilt University, The National Association of Social Workers, the Human Development Counseling Center at Vanderbilt University and the Vanderbilt Department of Psychiatry are proud to offer this unique opportunity for an intensive study in Relational-Cultural Theory and the neurobiology of trauma and traumatic disconnection.
Developed at the Stone Center, Relational-Cultural Theory rests on the premise that growth-fostering connections are the central human necessity and disconnections are the source of psychological problems. In particular, relationships are profoundly influenced by cultural contexts. Above all, RCT asserts that people need to be in connection in order to change, to open up, to shift, to transform, to heal and to grow.
